You may request an appointment to meet with staff to discuss a matter or with our Administrative Support staff to submit an application and make a payment. To request an appointment either send us an email or call 454-2022. Email is checked regularly during business hours Monday through Friday. We continue to encourage you to use email to conduct business.

For documents that cannot be emailed, there is a secure drop-off box on the first floor of 701 Ocean Street. Look for the drop-off box with a sign labeled ‘Building, Planning, and Environmental Health’. Forms, applications and other information can be found on this website.

Local Area Management Plan for Septic Systems (LAMP)

WINTER WATER TABLE TESTING PERIOD OPENS:  The winter water table testing window is now open, running through January 24th, with potential to be extended depending on precipitation. This testing period applies to some septic projects. If you are withing the CZU fire zone, contact the Recovery Permit Center to determine if this applies to your rebuild.  If it does, it is an important opportunity. See further information here.

Effective, Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 11:59 P.M., the Santa Cruz County Health Officer has issued a new Order requring use of face coverings indoors by all persons regardless of vaccination status.

Pay by Credit/Debit Card or E-Check - You must know your Environmental Health Invoice Number to pay by credit/debit card  Paying on line does not eliminate the need to return any required signed, original documents. Permits will not be issued until both payment and any required signed documents are submitted.
